Central Cordillera (Cordillera Central) is one of the three main branches into which the Andes mountain range in Colombia.
To know
The Central Cordillera extends from the Nudo de Almaguer (or Colombian massif), in department of Cauca, at the Serranía de San Lucas, in department of Bolívar.
The Central Cordillera is bounded by the valleys of the Cauca and Magdalena rivers to the west and east respectively.
On this mountain range is the so-called coffee axis (Eje cafetero). It has several snow-capped mountains, including the Nevado del Ruiz volcano, the Nevado de Santa Isabel volcano, the Nevado del Huila volcano, the Nevado del Tolima volcano and the Santa Rosa, Quindio and Cigno volcanoes.
On the mountain range and its valleys there are important cities of Colombia such as Medellín, Popayán, Ibagué, Armenia, Manizales is Pereira.
