Andean region is one of the five natural regions of the Colombia.
To know
Alla Colombia the northernmost stretch of the Andean Cordillera belongs with the valleys and intermediate plateaus. It is in this region that the major cities of the country are located, including the capital Bogotá
The Colombian Andes are characterized by very varied landscapes: They range from the Tatacoa desert to the savannah areas around the capital. There are numerous plantations, especially coffee. Around Quindío they are so extensive that they constitute a coffee park ("Zona Cafetera" or "Eje Cafetero"). The diversity of the landscape is matched by the variety of the climate.

Urban centers
- Armenia - capital of the department of Quindío.
- Bucamaranga - Capital of the Santander department, Bucamaranga is a city in the Río de Oro valley with many testimonies of the colonial period.
- Manizales - Capital of the Caldas department, Manizales lies among extensive coffee plantations. Every year there is a festival dedicated to the theater.
- Medellín - Second city in the country by number of inhabitants, Medellín is in full economic development.

Other destinations
- San Augustín - Famous archaeological site. The Tierradentro site also deserves a mention.
- Silva - Center of the Guambianos, an indigenous population that has been able to preserve its own language in addition to traditional customs.
Among the small towns that have preserved evidence of the colonial period are Tunja, Villa de Leyva, Barichara, Popayán, Buga and Santafé de Antioquia. The most admired of the colonial buildings is the imposing Salt Cathedral.

Numerous sports can be practiced in the Andes, including high-risk ones such as paragliding and hang-gliding in the Bogotá savannah or rafting in San Gil. Of course the possibility of climbing rock faces.
