Eching am Ammersee is at the north end of the Ammersee in Upper Bavaria. The community is popular destination for the near Munich.

Because of the local ending -ing, Eching is considered a Bavarian foundation in the early Middle Ages. The first documentary mention as Ehingun is the year 1065, the place then belonged to the domain of the barons of Perfall from the nearby Greifenberg for a long time and was a farming and fishing village in the Middle Ages.

The politically independent municipality of Eching was created in the course of the Bavarian administrative reforms in 1818 and is now a member of the administrative community Schondorf.

Another district of Eching am Ammersee is Gießübl.

The nearest train station is in Schondorf (approx. 4 km) at the Ammerseebahn from augsburg to Weilheim; In Augsburg, the trains are connected to the ICE network of Deutsche Bahn.

  • Via the Autobahn A96 (Munich - Lindau):
    • Coming from the east (Munich): Symbol: ASAmmersee Ost (Inning), and further about one kilometer to Eching;

The motorway passes Eching immediately to the south, but disappears here in a tunnel.

  • Catholic parish church 1 St. Peter and PaulSt. Peter and Paul in the Wikipedia encyclopediaSt. Peter and Paul in the media directory Wikimedia CommonsSt. Peter and Paul (Q41254415) in the Wikidata database: The church dates from 1766 and was built and designed by the most important Munich artists at the time: The church building was built by the court mason Leonhard Mathäus Gießl (born in Vienna), who is considered the last great rococo master builder in Upper Bavaria. Particularly worth seeing inside the church are the frescoes by court painter Christian Wink and the high altar from the end of the Rococo. The late Gothic west tower is from the previous building from the end of the 15th century. The church of St. Peter and Paul is rated as one of the most beautiful architectural monuments in the Ammersee region.
  • Plague chapel (Chapel St. Sebastian), built in 1651. The stucco in the chapel comes from Franz Xaver Schmuzer from the Wessobrunn stucco school.
The tufa wayside shrine with lantern ("epidemic column") on the chapel probably dates from 1548.
