The community Inning am Ammersee is located on a hill between the north end of the Ammersee in the west and that Woerthsee in the south East. The resort is located in Five Lakes Land West of Munich in Upper Bavaria.

First traces of settlement are a stone ax from the Neolithic Age, found in 1965 in the Schlagenhofen district (today in the State Archaeological Collection in Munich).

For the first time Inning was mentioned in a document as "Uninga" in one Eichstätter Bishops' charter from the beginning of the 10th century, after which the place often changes hands.

From 1472 Inning was the seat of the Hofmark inning and belonged to the patrimonial courts until the dissolution in 1848 Seefeld (owned by Count Törring-Seefeld).

From the 16th to the end of the 18th century, Inning was an intermediate and storage station on the Salzstrasse from Munich to Landsberg am Lech.

Today's political community Inning was created January 1, 1975 through the voluntary merger with the neighboring municipality of Buch and the other districts of Arzla, Bachern, Schlagenhofen and Stegen.

The district Webs is the lido of Inning with a beach cafe, boat docks and a far south-facing view over the Ammersee to the Alps;

By plane

The nearest commercial airport is the Munich Airport (also "Franz Josef Strauss", 68 km, approx. 45 minutes' drive). From here offer above all Lufthansa and their partner of Star Alliance Connections to cities in Germany, Europe and worldwide. As the second largest airport in Germany, it is connected to a growing number of cities.

By train

The ship fleet of the Ammerseeschiffahrt consists of two motor ships, the "MS AUGSBURG" and the "MS UTTING" as well as two paddle-wheel ships, the "RMS DIESSEN" and the "RMS HERRSCHING". The renovated ships offer modern shipbuilding technology and comfort and have a nostalgic appearance.

The districts of Buch and Stegen are Moorings for the boats, other landing stages are: Breitbrunn, Hersching, Dießen, Riederau, Holzhausen, Utting, Schondorft;

Inning-Stegen is the home port of Ammersee shipping, from here the ships set sail.

Tourist Attractions

  • old parish church St. Johann Baptist with the characteristic double onion dome, built by the electoral court mason Leonhard Mathias Gießl as a successor to a Gothic baptistery that burned down during the War of the Austrian Succession. Inside the baroque church, the ceiling frescoes by Christian Wink, the stucco work by Tassilo Zöpf, and the high altar by Xaver Schädl are particularly worth seeing.
  • chapel Assumption Day (also Holy Trinity) built in 1742 in the Buch district.
  • Imperial house on November 15, 1021 hostel for Emperor Heinrich II on one of his trains to Italy.
