Elbe Cycle Path (Czech Republic) - Elberadweg (Tschechien)

The Czech section of the Elbe cycle path leads from Špindlerův Mlýn(Spindleruv Mlyn) in the Giant Mountains above Melnik to Nice shortly before Bad Schandau ins Elbe Sandstone Mountains.

  • Length: 370 km
  • Signposting: Yellow signs with the no. 24 and from Mělník: 2. Well signposted below Vrchlabí, but detailed maps are essential. The signs with the Elbe logo are in preparation.

  • The next train station from the Elbe source is Vrchlabí, which is also the highest station on the Elbe cycle path at 477 m. Multiple transfers are required from Germany.

Bicycle bus

  • Of "Vrchlabí, aut. nádr. "after"Špindlerův Mlýn, aut. st. ”runs a bicycle bus 3 times a day in July and August, in June and September only on Saturdays and Sundays. Two more trips take the cyclists to the Spindlerbaude (Špindlerův Mlýn Špindlerova Bouda) at an altitude of almost 1200 m.
  • Cycle buses from Harrachov and Hradec Králové also go to Vrchlabí. The Giant Mountains hikers and bicycle bus connection will be in operation from May 29, 2010 to September 26, 2010. Bicycle transport costs 10 Kc extra per trip.

    • The way to the source of the Elbe - At an altitude of 1386 m, a concrete fountain ring represents the symbolic source of the Elbe (Pramen Labe). The actual source is a little higher. The source of the Elbe can only be reached on foot. You have to leave your bike 1 km beforehand. Driving outside the marked cycle paths is strictly forbidden in the Krkonoše National Park.     • Pantschefall (Pančavský vodopád) - 140 m waterfall from the edge of the Pantschewiese to the bottom of the Elbe valley.
    • Elbfall - At the Elbfallbaude the water falls 45 m over steep rapids, the water falls another 200 m on the wall of the Elbschlucht into the Elbgrund.
