Germershausen is more important than that Catholic pilgrimage site far beyond the limits of the Eichsfeldes known. Several pilgrimages draw thousands of pilgrims to the small Eichsfeld village every year. Halfway between resin and Goettingen in the Leinetal lying down, the place offers a quiet stopover near the Seeburg lake and the half-timbered town Duderstadt.

By plane

The nearest airport is that Hanover Airport, 140 km away; the airport in Erfurt is about 120 km south.

By train

The next national rail connection is 25 km away Goettingen, for regional connections there is also the 20 km away Herzberg am Harz at. You can continue to Germershausen with the 170 bus Boar idols, then continue with the 172 bus.

By bus

Coming from Göttingen you leave the B27 at Boar idols onto the B446 Duderstadt, and turns from this in Seeburg from. Along the Seeburger See you get to Germershausen via Bernshausen.

From Duderstadt you drive on the B247 in the direction of Gieboldehausen, and turn left about 1 km after Obernfeld onto the K 106, which you follow for another 2 km, driving through Rollshausen.

From the resin coming you leave the B27 in Gieboldehausen on the B247 south towards Duderstadt and after about 5 km turn right towards Rollshausen and Germershausen.

By bicycle

Cycle route 54 of the Goldene Mark cycle route network Max and Moritz from Ebergötzen to Duderstadt enables a connection to the Weser-Harz-Heide-Radweg.

Germershausen is a small village and can be easily explored on foot - if there is not a big pilgrimage in the village, then the place is completely overcrowded and there is no progress around the church.

1 Pilgrimage churchAnnunciation. The neo-Romanesque church was built from 1887 and consecrated in 1889. The Miraculous image Mary in the meadow, a statue of the Virgin Mary made of wood, dates from around 1400 to 1440 and is only shown in its original form during the Great Pilgrimage. The statue shown in the church with its simple interior is only a copy for safety reasons. The smaller of the two bells in the church with a diameter of 98 cm has been handed down as the bell of the first chapel in which the statue of Our Lady was exhibited. It bears an inscription with the year 1513. The pilgrimage church is located within the pilgrimage site on which the various pilgrimages take place during the church year.

Rhume spring
  • It's about 15 km Jump around to the Rhume spring, one of the largest karst springs in Europe.
  • The half-timbered town Duderstadt, the unofficial capital of the Untereichsfeld, is worth a visit because of its unusually large number of almost 600 half-timbered houses and the town hall, which was redesigned inside in 2012.
