  • 2  Village church:. The Hausacher village church is the oldest building in the city. It was used as a parish church more than 100 years ago when the parish church of St. Mauritius was completed in 1894. It took on the function of a cemetery church and, thanks to its excellent acoustics, also serves as a concert hall. It is certain that a representative of the first generation of the Lords of Wolva (Wolfach) founded the first stone church towards the end of the 11th century, of which the Romanesque tympanum above the blessing door has been preserved Was decorated with frescoes, with the Last Judgment on the west wall behind the organ being of particular importance as a uniqueness in the region: When the Last Judgment is depicted, the damned are thrust into the infernal jaws of a giant fish. At the beginning of the 16th century, the village church underwent a fundamental change under the influence of the exuberant Gothic. The late Gothic choir with its elaborate reticulated vault is an eloquent testimony to this. At this time, the church began to function as a miners' church for the 300 miners working in Hauserbach alone. The Baroque era also found its way into the village church when the two side altars were erected and the gallery moved in in 1738.
