Hausen is a municipality in the upper Streutal on the eastern edge of the Rhön and lies in Lower Franconia in the far north Bavaria.

In addition to the village of Hausen, the community also consists of the village 1 Roth and the hamlets 2 Hillenberg, 3 Rhönhof and Reupers. The community of Hausen is a member of the administrative community Fladungen.
Hausen is an orchard village: on the southwest side of the Hochrhön and thus in a protected location from the bad weather areas from the west, the orchards that emerged towards the end of the 18th century with a diversity that is unique for the Rhön have been able to hold up even after the land consolidation. The village has dedicated itself to the care and culture of this historic tree population and the associated fruit products.
The village of Hausen is also the model municipality of the Biosphere Reserve Rhön.

The nearest international airports are the Airport in Frankfurt (approx. 160 km, just under two hours by car), in Erfurt (about 90km, one and a half hours by car) and the Airport in Nuremberg (approx. 190 km, just under two hours by car).

The next train station is Mellrichstadt on the Würzburg - Erfurt railway line, from Mellrichstadt continue by bus (approx. 20 km).

- The Homestead nature trail in Hausen leads through the cultivar conservation garden and the streubost belt around the village.

Regular events
- Hauenstein hill climb: The motorsport event is carried out by MSC Rhön e.V. in AvD and ADAC and is part of the German Mountain Championship & KW Mountain Cup. The car race for racing cars and touring cars takes place every year on a weekend in mid-August as an individual time trial on a 4.2 km long race track, currently the longest and fastest hill climb in Germany.
There is a year-round program for the orchards
- More traditional Apple market in Hausen: on a Sunday at the end of October, shopping and promotions relating to the Rhön apple.
- Edelreiserbörse on a Sunday in spring: precious rice exchange, exchange of experiences, tree refinement options, fruit tree pruning courses and also guided tours through the orchard nature trail and variety conservation garden;
