Bad Koenigshofen is a spa town in the north Lower Franconia in the Grave field.

Königshofen was first mentioned in a document in 741 and began as a former Carolingian royal court. The city wall was built around 1315 and Königshofen received city rights in 1320.

In 1525 the town was destroyed in the Peasants' War, in 1562 it was devastated by a major fire, and in 1634/35 there was an epidemic of hunger and plague.

From around 1650 Königshofen became a town under Bishop Johann Philipp von Schönborn von Würzburg fortress expanded, the facilities were dismantled again at the beginning of the 19th century with the exception of a few parts (cellar and vault).

The story as Spa begins in 1896: while searching for drinking water, the healing springs are discovered and from then on they are used to treat health disorders. The official title bath has been running Königshofen since 1974.

Bad Königshofen is on the B 279 federal road from Bad Neustadt to Bamberg and can be easily reached via this. Junction of the B 279 to the A 71 motorway (Thuringian-Forest motorway): Exit Bad Neustadt.

The parking lot in the center on the market square is chargeable, but there are other free parking spaces near the center.

The museum, opened in 1988, is a branch of State Archaeological Collection in Munich.

9  Tower Museum (in the 63 m high tower of the parish church). One of the smallest museums in Franconia and opened in 2003. You can see the 100-year-old tower clock, insights into the tower parlor and the life of the historic tower keeper.Open: Sun. at 11 a.m.

10  Old kiln (Cultural center, Art and exhibitions), Elisabethastraße 29, 97631 Bad Königshofen. The building of the old kiln is a remnant of the former brewery, it was built around 1600 under Prince-Bishop Julius Echter. From 2008 to 2010 the building was converted into a cultural arsenal and a town twinning location and reopened in spring 2011.

11  Spa gardens (with foyer). The Kapuzinerklosterkirche was located at the place of the spa park, it was built in 1665 with the monastery. The monastery complex was demolished in 1971.
