The village Hemeln is together with the villages Glashütte and Bursfelde the northernmost part of the municipality Hann. Münden in the Weser Uplands.
background
Hemeln is a small place on the Weser, a few kilometers north of Hann. Münden, to which it was incorporated in 1973. The villages also belong to Hemeln Glassworks and Bursfelde with the Bursfelde Monastery with another 150 inhabitants. The three villages are in the order Hemeln, Glashütte and Bursfelde coming from the south one behind the other on the banks of the Weser and at the same time at the foot of the Bramwald, which rises here up to 400m as the boundary of the Weser valley.
As a ferry port, Hemeln has been an important place for trade routes on the Weser for centuries. Today the little greed ferry is to the opposite Veckerhagen and the Gasthaus zur Fähre on the Hemelner side, especially a magnet for motorcyclists and Sunday excursionists from the area Goettingen, but also for cyclists on the Weser cycle path, it is also a popular stop for canoeists and rowers on the Weser.

The village of Hemeln itself can easily be explored on foot. To reach the districts of Glashütte and Bursfelde, you have to walk a little longer, take a bike or boat, or rely on the regional bus or your own car.
