The village Hemeln is together with the villages Glashütte and Bursfelde the northernmost part of the municipality Hann. Münden in the Weser Uplands.

Hemeln is a small place on the Weser, a few kilometers north of Hann. Münden, to which it was incorporated in 1973. The villages also belong to Hemeln Glassworks and Bursfelde with the Bursfelde Monastery with another 150 inhabitants. The three villages are in the order Hemeln, Glashütte and Bursfelde coming from the south one behind the other on the banks of the Weser and at the same time at the foot of the Bramwald, which rises here up to 400m as the boundary of the Weser valley.
As a ferry port, Hemeln has been an important place for trade routes on the Weser for centuries. Today the little greed ferry is to the opposite Veckerhagen and the Gasthaus zur Fähre on the Hemelner side, especially a magnet for motorcyclists and Sunday excursionists from the area Goettingen, but also for cyclists on the Weser cycle path, it is also a popular stop for canoeists and rowers on the Weser.

From the east lying Goettingen coming you drive the B3 bis Dransfeld and the L560 to Hemeln, a total of about 28 km.
From the southern one Hann. Münden you are on the L561 on the eastern bank of the Weser after about 12 km in Hemeln.
By boat
- With the 1 ferry can be reached from the opposite Hessian Veckerhagen to Hemeln. Tourist Attractions
- The freely accessible ruins of the 1 Bramburg in the Bramwald above Hemeln, which, according to legend, was built by the giantess Brama, but in reality has a long history of a protective castle of Corveyer Property over a border fortification system of the Guelph Dukes (from around 1280) over a robber baron nest of the Lords of Stockhausen to the partial destruction in 1458. The ruin can be reached from a parking lot on the L561 between Hemeln and Glashütte via forest paths on foot (approx. 1 km).
