The Intyamon valley is a valley located in the Gruyère district, himself in the canton of Freiburg in Swiss.

Understand

The Château de Gruyères protects the Valley

Geography

The name of the Intyamon valley means between the mountains. It is long 18 km and of 4 km To 6 km wide, surrounded by 42 mounts, teeth or peaks of 1 800 m To 2 389 m, not counting the smallest 1 800 m.

It is dominated and positioned between the Moléson 2 002 m (which can be seen almost from all over Gruyère), the Vanil Noir in 2 389 m (highest point of the canton of Friborg), Les Rochers de Naye, the Dents de Jaman, Lys, Corjon and Broc.

It is a peaceful and restful valley, green of meadows and woods bordering the river Sarine (Saane) located in Gruyère, in the Canton of Friborg, on the axis connecting Bubble at Château d'Oex - Gstaad, between Epagny and Montbovon.

Surprising: when you want to see the river (because you can only follow it by paths), between Montbovon and Enney there will be only 4 places. The Lessoc lake and dam, the road to the chapel of Buth (pretty overhang) on the east side of the valley, or by spanning the following 2 bridges: the bridge near Grandvillard station, and finally at Bas-Intyamon between the Industrial Zone of Enney and Estavannens with the iron bridge (which a familiar told me to imagine as a chocolate bridge to make me swallow its unspeakable appearance) and near a factory dump (admittedly limited) as you hardly ever see in Switzerland. In this valley, everything is beautiful, except there.

Story

The story is linked to that of the Earls of Gruyères until 1555, then in Canton of Friborg.

The proximity of the Intyamon valley located at the foot of the Château de Gruyères, that their historical destinies are similar.

Sylvicole trail course

Between Bas-Intyamon and Grandvillard along the Sarine.

Route of the Count's Trail (from Gruyères)

Between the city of Gruyères and the station of Sciernes then of Montbovon, or vice versa.

The course is done on 16 km long approximately (by the roads on 7 km and forest trails on 9 km), on the left bank of the Sarine, through its villages. This path would have been born from the discreet exits of the Counts towards the valley (without being exposed).

This path is in the forest at the edge of the edge of it at the bottom of the western slope. Of course, this pedestrian route can be split either for a route:

  • By train, at the same time as the stations of Gruyères - Enney - Grandvillard - Neirivue - Albeuve - Lessoc - Montbovon.
  • By car along or crossing the cross roads from Gruyères via the road to Saussivue; then above Enney at Bas-Intyamon by the Létchyre road; in Albeuve by the Route du Crédzillon, then after having followed the river upstream; we will turn to the left to catch up to the south, the route des Prés to Sciernes.

Dishes

  • Fondue Logo indicating a wikipedia link – A cheese fondue is one that involves dipping pieces of bread or vegetables in melted cheese.
  • Half and half fondue Logo indicating a wikipedia link – The main ingredients are Gruyère and Vacherin Fribourgeois.
  • Fondue Fribourgeoise Logo indicating a wikipedia link – Fondue Fribourgeoise is made exclusively from Vacherin Fribourgeois (cooked in water, therefore easier to digest). To be eaten a little less hot (lukewarm), very delicate in taste.
  • Bénichon meal Logo indicating a wikipedia link – (about h)

Cheese

  • Swiss Gruyère cheese Logo indicating a wikipedia link – Gruyère is a Swiss cheese made from whole cow's milk, cooked pressed, but made from raw milk, which takes its name from Gruyère, a region in the canton of Friborg.
  • Swiss Alpine Gruyère cheese Logo indicating a wikipedia link – Gruyère d'Alpage is a Swiss cheese made from whole cow's milk, cooked pressed, but made from raw milk, which takes its name from Gruyère, a region of the canton of Friborg. But the cows graze at more than 1 000 m, and the flowers and plants are therefore different, and give a distinct taste (light and fine).
  • Vacherin Fribourgeois cheese Logo indicating a wikipedia link – Vacherin Fribourgeois is a Swiss cheese from the canton of Friborg made from raw cow's milk, uncooked pressed paste, with a slight smell of resin and a slightly tart, nutty flavor.

Dessert

  • Double cream of Gruyère Logo indicating a wikipedia link – The "double cream of Gruyère" (Switzerland) produced from milk from Gruyère, often contains 50% fat. It can be either pasteurized or uperized (UHT); it is not fermented by lactic acid bacteria, and therefore remains sweet unlike sour cream. It is particularly appreciated as a dessert, accompanied by meringues or red fruits.
  • Swiss meringue Logo indicating a wikipedia link – Made by mounting egg whites until stiff with icing sugar on a double boiler. The finished aspect is smooth and shiny, with a very firm consistency and less crumbly than the French preparation allows it to be used for making decorations. The very sweet meringue, tasted with the bland double cream of Gruyère, creates an ideal complementary marriage because it is balanced.
  • Cailler chocolate (Nestlé) Logo indicating a link to the websiteLogo indicating a wikipedia link Pitcher – In addition, visit to the museum, tasting, shop.
  • Ladurée macaroon Logo indicating a wikipedia link – made in this valley, but the points of sale are in New York, Paris, Tokyo, London, Dubai ... Lausanne. On the spot ... nothingness (wouldn't rural money have the same value as in flashy cities?).
