There are chargeable parking spaces in the old town at the discharge and loading area as well as at the Borkeplatz, directly at the youth hostel.
The upper town is well developed for car traffic and there is sufficient parking space.

Tourist Attractions
- Half-timbered old town - The old town is picturesquely located on the high bank of the Elbe. From the upper town you have a beautiful view over the Elbe. In the old town you can see cozy half-timbered buildings in the north German brick style such as: Rhumpf'sche Haus, Kaufmannhaus, Künstlerhaus, Mensingsche Haus. The "narrow house" at Elbstrasse 97 is curious.
- Old Town Hall - built in 1740; today the seat of the Elbe shipping museum
- "Lookout at the defense tower" - From the location of the castle you have a nice view over the Elbe. The castle itself burned down in 1616. One building is still preserved and serves as an office building. The defense tower (from 1477) is still a remnant of the old castle, which was built here from 1182. The prince's garden now serves as a city park (with an artificial grotto).
- historical Chamber lock on the canal towards Lübeck
- Maria Magdalena Church - built around 1300, interior decoration well worth seeing
