Laufenburg AG is the Swiss part of the city that belonged to Upper Austria until 1801. It is in the canton Aargau and in the Northwestern Switzerland and is one of the most beautiful points of the High Rhine Valley. The northern part of the city on the other side of the Rhine Laufenburg (Baden) is not covered here.

From 1408 to 1801 Laufenburg belonged to the Habsburg Front Austria and was a city. Laufenburg (Baden) has belonged to Germany since the division, the southern part joined Switzerland in 1802.
In 1985 Laufenburg received the Wakker Prize, a prize that honors cities and communities that maintain their townscape in an exemplary manner.

In Laufenburg there are no great offers for nightlife. There are about 10 bars, and the Bunker - Bar, under the red lion on the market square. By the way, in a few minutes you are on the German side, there are plenty more offers. The Hähnle bistro right by the old Rhine bridge is very well known.
