Mayschoss is a place in Ahr Valley and belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Altenahr and thus to the circle Ahrweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate. The main sources of income are viticulture and tourism. The district belongs to Mayschoss Laugh.

background

Mayschoss was first mentioned in 1106 under the name Meinscozen. The wine village lies in a wide basin of the Ahr. The Saffenburg was built in the 11th century and is now the oldest castle complex in the Ahr Valley. It has been open to the public again since 2004. Vineyards have surrounded the castle hill since the 19th century.

getting there

By train

  • Mayschoss station, Ahrtalbahn (RB 30) every hour from Ahrbrück and Bonn via Remagen.
  • In Remagen there is an hourly connection from Koblenz with RE 5 and RB 26.
  • The district of Laach is used on weekends by individual regional buses on the route Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler - Altenahr approached, otherwise by the call line taxi

In the street

  • Cars and motorcycles: A 61 or A 565 to the Meckenheim interchange, continue on the B 257 in the direction Altenahr. 2 km after the end of the expressway left direction county-Esch. Then follow the signs to Dernau (the route is narrow and winding). In Dernau right onto the B 267 towards Altenahr. After 3 km you reach Mayschoss.
  • Larger cars, mobile homes, camping teams: A 61 to the Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler motorway junction, there change to the A 573 direction Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler. Exit the Ahrweiler / Altenahr junction. Continue on the B 267 direction Altenahr. After 10 km you reach Mayschoss.

train: Train connections every hour with the Ahr Valley Railway in the direction of Remagen and Ahrbrück above Altenahr. Bicycles can be taken.

bus: Regular connections along the Ahr valley to neighboring towns Altenahr, Right, Dernau and Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler. Bicycles can be taken along. (see discussion)

  • It runs right past Mayschoss Red wine hiking trail. It leads on a varied 30-kilometer route at various heights above the Ahr through the middle of the vineyards. On the tour through the vineyard terraces from Bad Bodendorf via Bad Neuenahr / Ahrweiler, past Mayschoss and on to Altenahr, hikers can enjoy wonderful views of the romantic Ahr valley again and again.
  • Ahr valley hiking trail - It leads from Altenahr to the confluence of the Ahr into the Rhine (nature reserve).
