Blankenheim is in the North Eifel at the national border Rhineland-Palatinate.In the territory of the municipality Blankenheim several sub-regions of the Eifel collide:

• Ahrdorf and Ahrhütte as well as parts of the main town belong to the upper one Ahr Valley.
• The area between and above the river valleys of Kyll, Ahr, Erft, Urft is called Kalkeifel designated. The districts Dollendorf, Blankenheimerdorf, Rohr, Reetz, Freilingen, Lommersdorf and parts of the main town of Blankenheim fall into this area.
• Blankenheim forest lies in the valley of the Urft and could therefore be part of the region Schleiden Valley be assigned.
