Nettersheim is a city in the Eifel in North Rhine-Westphalia.
background
The community of Nettersheim had around 7,500 inhabitants in mid-2013, with the districts of Nettersheim and Marmagen, each with around 1,700 inhabitants, being the two largest districts. The sub-region Schleiden Valley belonging municipality is predominantly in the catchment area of Urft, a tributary of the Rur and to a lesser extent in the catchment area of the Erftwhich rises in the municipality. The municipality is an amalgamation of the places Bouderath, Buir, Engelgau, Frohngau, Holzmülheim, Marmagen, Nettersheim, Pesch, Roderath, Tondorf and Zingsheim in an area of 9,500 ha. Of this, 3,160 ha are covered by forest and 100 ha are water.

The neighboring communities are Kall in the north-west, Dahlem in the south, Hellenthal in the West, Mechernich in the North, Bad Münstereifel in the Northeast, Bumblebee in the southeast (Rhineland-Palatinate) and Blankenheim (Ahr) in the south East. The municipality is connected to these places as follows:
- Blankenheim (Ahr) in the upper Ahr Valley: Direct train connection to Blankenheim-Wald (1 station)
- Dahlem: Direct rail connection via Blankenheim-Wald, Dahlem-Schmidtheim to Dahlem
- Hellenthal: Road connection via Marmagen, Wahlen, Diefenbach, Sistig, Ingersberg and Blumenthal (18 km)
- Kall: Direct train connection via Urft to Kall-Mitte (2 stations)
- Mechernich: Direct train connection via Urft, Kall, Scheven to Mechernich-Mitte (4 stations)
- Bad Münstereifel: Rail connection via Urft, Kall, Scheven, Mechernich, Euskirchen (change), Euskirchen-Stotzheim, Euskirchen-Kreuzweingarten, Münstereifel-Versheim, Münstereifel (terminus)
- Bumblebee: Road connection via Zingsheim, Engelgau, Tondorf and Falkenberg (15 km)

By plane
- The Cologne Bonn Airport can be reached in about 1 3/4 hours; the connection with the train via Euskirchen and Bonn further with the express bus takes about the same time as the train connection via Cologne.
- You can also reach the by train via Cologne Düsseldorf International Airport in just under 2 hours.
- To the Frankfurt am Main airport It is best to also take the train via Cologne and it takes just under 2 1/2 hours.
- The airfields are available to self-pilots Dahlemer Binz, Wershofen and Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler to disposal.
By train
- The only train stop in the municipality is Nettersheim, along the route trier and Gerolstein and further after Euskirchen and Cologne.
- The next ICE stop is Cologne, the journey time is 67 minutes. The same time is needed up to Bonn with change in Euskirchen. The travel time until trier is 101 minutes.

Tourist Attractions
The sights of Nettersheim mainly focus on their past in Roman times, although other objects in the city are also worth seeing.
- 1 St. Margareta Church Due to lack of space, the old medieval nave of St. Margaret's Church was torn down and rebuilt in 1923/24, only the tower of the old church remained. The "" Eifel marble ", the fossil-rich limestone from the quarry about 2.5 km away, was used for the new building Roderath. Numerous fossils can be discovered on the outer wall of the parish church, including the stems of sea lilies (crinoids), which are rare today.
- 2 Ahe chapel The Ahe Chapel, consecrated to St. Servatius, is located near Engelgau in the valley of the Geneva stream. The older part of the chapel is the late Gothic choir from the 16th century, surrounded by buttresses on the outside. The longship was built in the 18th century. May 13th is the name day of the patron saint; on the preceding Sunday, the chapel is the destination of a procession from the surrounding villages, followed by the Servatius Festival.

- 5 Fossil field It allows an insight into the history of the earth, in the area of archeology the life and legacy of our ancestors is shown and in the coral reef aquarium the beginning of the Eifel approx. 380 million years ago becomes visible. There are also the subjects of life in the country - then and now, habitats, animals and plants of the cultural landscape and energy & climate.
- 6 Roman camp In 1909, a Roman settlement made up of residential houses, a sanctuary, commercial and public buildings and a fortification was discovered in Nettersheim a little south of the town. It stretched along the Roman Agrippastrasse. Via Agrippa and parts of the settlement in the area were exposed for visitors. A circular route (4 km) with viewing and resting stations and exciting adventure stations connects the Roman town with the Eifel nature center and Nettersheim. The Archaeological Landscape Park was opened on May 18, 2014. Among other things, the strip houses via Agrippa and the Roman temple district are shown Gorresburg.
- 7 MarcomagusMarcomagus on Römerstrasse via Agrippa a Roman settlement area. The area from Steinrütsch to Görresburg has been archaeologically investigated since 2009. The vicus in this section on both sides of the Urft was of supraregional importance and existed until the beginning of the 5th century. Since 2009, excavations have been taking place every summer in the area of the vicus, especially on the Steinrütsch.
