The region Mittelweser located in Lower Saxony. It begins where the Weser leaves the Porta Westfalica behind and flows leisurely north into the vastness of the north German plains. The landscape is determined by the flat Wesermarsch between Minden and Hanover in the south and Bremen in the north and wide geest areas with forests, fields and extensive moor and heather areas. Also worth seeing and experiencing are the picturesque places and historically grown cities with their cultural offerings. Follow in the footsteps of the dinosaurs, experience wolves in their pack and ride on nostalgic museum trains.

background
The Mittelweser area has been inhabited by humans for at least 120,000 years. Barrows, megalithic stone graves and finds, which are exhibited in the Nienburg Regional Museum and in the Syke District Museum, bear witness to this. All epochs are represented in the history of architecture and art, from the Romanesque to the present. The architectural style of the Renaissance in the 16th and 17th centuries in the Weser area in particular experienced a special form. Discover churches and monasteries, museums and parlors, mills and museum railways and immerse yourself in the history of the region.

gastronomy in the Mittelweser region means down-to-earth and rural cuisine. The chefs in the companies are particularly happy to pamper you with regional and seasonal products. The royal white vegetables are often on the table during the asparagus season. But a visit to the gastronomy in the region is not only worthwhile during asparagus season. Seasonal dishes such as kale, Weser fish or game dishes complete the offer. In addition to German cuisine, there is of course also international cuisine.
