To know
Geographical notes
It boasts of being the geographic center of Italy, although this claim is also made by its neighbor Rieti.
Background
It assumed importance in Roman antiquity by being on the Via Flaminia, the road that crossed the Apennine Mountains from Rome to Rimini (Ariminum) on the Adriatic coast. In Roman times, the city was known as Narnia, but it's not sure if this is where the C.S. Lewis got the name for his Chronicles of Narnia.

Narni ScaloLocation of the Municipality of Narni of about 5,100 inhabitants, slightly more inhabited than the capital itself, geographically located at the western end of the Conca Ternana.
In the district reside the main railway station of Narni, numerous industrial plants, public offices, an open-air opera theater and the Gandhi altarpiece, home to the city's volleyball team.
Near the train station we find the Augustus Bridge, with 30 meters high by 130 long, dating back to the Roman Empire and fell into disuse in the mid-19th century.

- 1 Co-cathedral of San Giovenale (Parish of Saints Juvenal and Cassio), Via Giuseppe Garibald, @[email protected]. Twelfth-century church with four naves, formerly the cathedral of Narni, it remains the reference of the city. It is dedicated to San Giovenale, bishop of the city. The building has undergone additions and modifications over the centuries.
- 2 Abbey of San Cassiano, Strada San Casciano, 36 (From Narni Scalo, it can be reached by car taking the road to Amelia, after 500 meters turn left and continue following the signs for San Cassiano.). Closed.
- 3 Church of Santa Maria Impensole, Strada Mazzini, 6. 08:3'-12:30 / 15:30-18:30. 12th century church built on an ancient Roman temple. Remarkable medieval frescoes and sculptural stone decorations.

- 12 Augustus Bridge, Via Tre Ponti. This Roman bridge was built to connect the Via Flaminia passing the city of Narni over the Nera river. 160 m long and 30 m high Due to the collapses, about half of them remain standing today. It was built in travertine.
- 13 Priory palace, Piazza dei Priori. This building is located opposite the town hall and features a bell tower and an arched loggia. In the past it became a building of the Piarist Fathers until 1800.
- 14 Narni Town Hall, Piazza dei Priori. This beautiful building from the end of the 13th century is the seat of the municipality.

This is mainly known for hosting a famous altarpiece by Domenico Bigordi known as the Ghirlandaio, but there are also prehistoric, Roman and medieval objects and other paintings. The museum logo has attracted considerable attention from design enthusiasts, combining an M for the museum and an E for Eroli in what appears to be a bridge.
