Ochtrup is a city in Münsterland in the Steinfurt district.
background
The first documentary mention comes from the 12th century. However, many traces of older settlement activities can be found, e.g. the monastery in Langenhorst was built on the ruins of an old castle.

Tourist Attractions
- 1 Lamberti Church - The original church from the 13th century was replaced by a new building in the 19th century due to lack of space. A baptismal font from the 12th century can still be found here today.
- 2 Marienkirche - There are numerous stained glass from 1952 and 1965 here.
- 3 Collegiate Church of St. Johannis - The church dates from 1230.
- 4 Welbergen old church - The church originally dates from the 11th century, but has been expanded several times over the years. Reliefs from the 12th century and the grave of the knight Johann von Oldenhus are worth seeing.
- 5 Villa Winkel - The 19th century Villa Winkel was built as a neo-renaissance building. In the 1970s, the villa and park were taken over by the city of Ochtrup and are used for various purposes. In the villa itself there are, among other things, a community college and music school. The park was transformed into a public city park, which includes a mini golf course, various sculptures and a small game reserve.
- 6 Former office building - The building was erected in 1898 in the Neo-Renaissance and Dutch styles. Today the social welfare office of the city of Ochtrup is located here.
- 7 Stüwwenkopp - This section of the wall is the last remnant of the former defensive system. Originally created as a water bear, it is now integrated into a fountain.
- 8 Beltman Construction - This building from 1893 is named after its architect Gerrit Beltman. It was built in the Dutch Renaissance style and originally served as the administration building of the Laurenz company. Today there are central areas, e.g. the information of the FOC Ochtrup (Factory Outlet Center) in this building.
- 9 Boehm's rotunda - The building, named after the architect Dominikus Böhm, dates from 1942. Originally, this also belonged to the Laurenz company. Today you can find Café Laurenz here.
- 10 Mountain windmill - This mill is one of the last remaining intact windmills of the type Wall Dutch and dates from 1848. Wind-milled flour is still made here today.
- 11 Old memory - The building originally dates from 1905 and has been completely restored. The Heimatverein has found its home here.
- 12 House Welbergen - The moated castle of Haus Wellbergen can be traced back to the 13th century. Today's structure and interior fittings can essentially be dated to the 17th and 18th centuries. The moated castle is part of the route of 100 castles and is known for its rich archive. Exterior visits are possible at any time. Interior visits and guided tours are possible by arrangement.

- 15 Weiner Esch quarry - The quarry is a registered paleontological ground monument and especially known for the numerous fossil finds. For reasons not known up to now, an above-average number of shark teeth were found here.
