On the Helmbrechts railway line - Münchberg

From Helmbrechts to Selbitz you drive on the former railway line, there is no longer any train service. You can take the 6350 bus, which runs several times a day, in a good 20 minutes, but without a bike. If you want to take your bicycles with you, you have to take the train via Hof and Münchberg, which takes 1.5 to 2 hours.

The buses run there and back twice a day on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

Route description with sights

This fountain to the left of the path in front of Schauenstein is actually quite small

Wüstenselbitz - Helmbrechts - Schauenstein - Selbitz (Upper Franconia) - Naila - Marxgrün - Hell Valley - Blankenstein

From the self-origin at 1 Natural outdoor pool in Wüstenselbitz on 1 Factory outlet Fraas past on the bike path after 2 Unterweißbach, continue to 3 Helmbrechts. Through the city, then on the 3 Cycle path on the former railway line past the 1 Natural open-air swimming pool (water flea refreshment stops in summer) 4 Volkmannsgrün. In Volkmannsgrün you cross the Selbitz on a small pedestrian bridge, there is an immediately on the right 2 Beer garden right on the bike path.

We continue in the valley 5 Schauenstein with the 4 Castle and fire brigade museum on top of the mountain. Further on in the Selbitzaue 6 Willow green and after 7 Selbitz. There are supermarkets for provisions and drinks in Selbitz. On to Naila am 3 Bockpfeifer with beer garden over.

In 5 Naila past 8 Hospital and at the train station, following the railway line along the Selbitz, at the 4 Restaurant Froschgrün over the Griesbacher Weg and the 9 Marxgrüner Weg on the bike path further 10 Marxgrün.

Then along the Selbitz 11 to hell through that 12 Höllental to Blechschmiedenhammer 6 with the information center "Höllental" of the Franconian Forest Nature Park and 5 6 Refreshments. Then the final spurt to 13 Mouth of the Selbitz in the Saale 7 Blankenstein (beginning of Rennsteig and connection to the Saale cycle path.

The cycle path is largely free of traffic, special attention is required when crossing roads and bends should be driven on the right-hand side to avoid collisions. It should definitely be ridden with a bicycle helmet.
