The town Münchberg lies on the so-called Münchberger Gneissplatte, which is located in the southwest of the Hofer Landes between the low mountain ranges Fichtel Mountains and Franconian Forest spreads. It can therefore also be called the gateway to the Fichtel Mountains and the Franconian Forest. Münchberg is best known for its textile industry.

5 km south of the city, in Kleinlosnitz, is that Upper Franconian Farm Museum. Other destinations in the area are:

- Weißenstadt (16 km southeast, via Weißdorf) - Weißenstadt is located on the 50 hectare Weißenstädter See and on the upper reaches of the Eger, which rises southwest of the city in the Fichtel Mountains.
