In the Polish Silesia area, the majority of the population speaks Polish. You can also meet with Czech, German and Silesian (which is something between Polish and German).

Arrive

It's best to fly from Amsterdam to Wrocław or Katowice (for around €70) or drive through Germany's North Rhine, Hesse, Thuringia and Saxony.

Silesia is one of the best connected regions of Poland. We find here a dense network of roads and railways and 2 international airports. Motorways (A1, A4 and A8), highways (eg S1) and national roads facilitate road transport.

When visiting Silesia, it is worth taking the opportunity to swim on the rivers with kayaks and ships or to swim in the lake. Other activities include hiking in the Sudeten and mountain biking.

  • Hauskyjza - traditional cheese from ripe cottage cheese, from cow's milk with the addition of cumin.
  • Wodzionka, brotzupa - a soup of Silesian and German dishes, consisting of boiling water, lard, pepper, salt and stale bread.
