Southern Africa
The Southern Africa is the region in the south of the african Continent (and not synonymous with the country South Africa). The region borders in the north Central Africa and in the north-east East Africa, the further limits form the Atlantic and the Indian oceanthat on Cape of Good Hope meet each other. The demarcation to the north is not precisely defined, it can be made geographically or geopolitically. The UN and the Southern African Customs Union (Customs Union, SACU for short) name only the five southernmost states (hatched in dark green on the map), geographically the countries hatched in light green are also counted and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) also excludes Tanzania (except East Africa) and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (from Central Africa).
