Tostedt is a municipality in Lower Saxony in the northwest of the Lueneburg Heath.

Todtglüsingen has been part of Tostedt since 1972. The main town is also the administrative seat of the Tostedt municipality, to which the municipalities belong 1 Dohren, 2 Handeloh, Heidenau, Kakenstorf, Königsmoor, Otter, Tostedt, Welle and Wistedt.
Tostedt has been known as a stopover on the way from Hamburg to Bremen since at least 1105. Many residents commute to and from the city to work Life in the country. By train
- The 6 Tostedt station is on the main route Hamburg-Bremen. Tostedt is a stop on the railway lines RE4 and RB41 Hamburg-Bremen as well as the terminus of the regional train of the Hamburg HVV area. There are hourly connections to Hamburg and Bremen. Many bus lines stop at Tostedt train station and there is a large Park Ride car park.
For cyclists, strollers and people with disabilities, elevators lead to all platforms at Tostedt train station. The RE trains have extendable access ramps for wheelchairs, which can only be operated by the train staff.

Events
Himmelsweg at the Töster flea market
- 1 Big Tostedter flea market. The Töster flea market always takes place on the first weekend in October. It is considered the largest flea market in northern Germany. Around 60,000 visitors (2015) meet around 700 exhibitors who come from Germany as well as from the Netherlands and Denmark and offer their goods at the flea market on around 7,000 meters of stand front space. Parking is best at Tostedt train station, from there a bus shuttle takes you to the center of the hustle and bustle to the bus stop at the Bade department store.
- 2 Christmas market. Every year on the 1st weekend in Advent, the Christmas market takes place in Himmelsweg.
- 6 Shooting festival Tostedt. Every year in May and June, shooting festivals take place in all villages. The exact dates can be found on the entrance signs. The festival usually lasts a whole weekend. After the traditional shooting competition and the march to the new Schützenkönig, there is still a fair on the Schützenplatz.
