Trzemeszno (German: Tremessen) is a historic city in the polish Voivodeship Greater Poland. The city is on the Gnesen Lake District in the historical region Greater Poland in the Kalischer country. The city is idyllically situated between wooded moraine hills and lakes. It is particularly known for the high baroque St. Mary's basilica of the Benedictine order. The originally Romanesque church was in its current form by Ephraim Schröger created the frescoes by Franciszek Smuglewicz. The leader of the Warsaw Uprising of 1794, Jan Kiliński, was born here. The place is on the Romanesque Piast way.
