Zeitz - Zeitz

Time
no tourist info on Wikidata: Add tourist information

Time, the city of baby carriages and sugar production, is located in the south of the state Saxony-Anhalt and in the west of the Burgenlandkreis district. The former Slavic settlement on the northern edge of the Thuringian river valley White Magpie was first made in 967 in the Synod of Ravenna mentioned and was from 968 to 1030 for a short time the seat of the bishopric of the diocese of Naumburg-Zeitz, which was dissolved in 1562. The region has been shaped by lignite mining since around 1830 and is now located on the southeastern edge of the recultivation area Leipzig New Lakeland.

background

Zeitz is often used in the media as an example of sadness and hopelessness in the East, whereby, as so often, only the negative sides are presented - completely dilapidated and run-down Wilhelminian-style districts and an empty pedestrian zone are well suited for the camera, the existing sights are faded out . You shouldn't be put off visiting the city just because of the image of Zeitz presented in the media.
