The small town Zschopau lies, surrounded by coniferous and mixed forests, in the Zschopautal at the bottom Western Ore Mountains. It is primarily known for its earlier motorcycle construction.

By train

The train driver reaches Zschopau via the Zschopautalbahn, which Chemnitz with Cran number at the Fichtelbergbahn every two hours and Annaberg-Buchholz even connects every hour on weekdays. In Fleawhere the Zschopaubahn branches off from the double-track and electrified main line Chemnitz – Dresden, there are transfer options from the trains from Dresden; but on weekends you have to wait an hour longer for almost every second connection.

Wolkenstein Castle
  • Scharfenstein (6 km south, S 228) - above the village is Scharfenstein Castle, whose keep is used as a lookout tower.
