The small town Adorf is located in the Vogtlandkreis on the northern edge of the Elstergebirge.
background
Adorf was built around 1200 on the road from Plauen to Eger. The economy of the city was in the Middle Ages from the aforementioned road as well as another connecting road from Bohemia to court favored. In 1293 town charter was granted. From 1398 at the latest there was a mayor and a council. In 1357 Adorf fell to the Margraviate of Meißen, in 1485 to the Electorate of Saxony, in 1547 to the bailiffs of Plauen and in 1569 finally to Saxony. The Reformation began in 1522. In 1865 the city received a railway connection. Adorf belonged to the GDR times District of Oelsnitz.

By train
The railway line from Plauen is operated every hour by the private Vogtland Railway drive on, with every second train via Bad Brambach to Eger is tied through in the Czech Republic.
In the street
Adorf is from the direction of Chemnitz and from southwest Germany via the autobahn 
reachable where you are at the descent Plauen-South exits and onto the federal road 
changes. After the completion of the bypass of Oelsnitz the journey has been shortened in terms of time. Who from direction regensburg over the autobahn 
starts, leaves the motorway at the exit Regnitzlosau and then drives on the highway via Posseck and Bergen.

The miniature exhibition was opened in 1995. There are a total of 52 models to visit. With the purchase of the admission ticket you also get access to the Botanical Garden. - The City Church of St. Michaelis is an Art Nouveau building and was built in 1906-08.
- The St. John's Church dates from 1858, and is built on the foundations of the previous church. The portal comes from an Adorfer Kreuzkapelle from 1498.
- The town hall was built in 1896.
- The Freiberg Gate, is the only preserved city gate in the Vogtland and houses the local history museum.

The Vogtland Railway Association Adorf (Vogtl) e.V. has been maintaining and operating the facilities of the Adorf depot since 1995 on a voluntary basis. In addition to the structural systems, the association also maintains and maintains many of its own vehicles such as steam and diesel locomotives, railcars and a track motorcycle (GKR). The railway depot from 1909 includes a 20 m turntable with a 12-person roundhouse, a water crane, a coaling system for steam locomotives and various ancillary buildings.
