Bad Lauterberg in the Harz Mountains is a spa town on the southern edge of the Harz Mountains. Today's state-approved Kneipp spa has a history of over 800 years.

By plane
The closest airports with scheduled air traffic are the airports Hanover and Frankfurt.
By train
You can travel to Bad Lauterberg by train on the southern Harz route between Northeim and Nordhausen. The breakpoint 1 Bad Lauterberg-Barbis stop is located in the south-west of the town center, Barbis. The nearest national train station is the Goettingen train station, Driving time from there to Bad Lauterberg directly approx. 45 minutes.
By bus
The following local transport lines operate:
- 450 (St. Andreasberg–Bad Lauterberg–Barbis–Scharzfeld–Herzberg)
- 471 (Bad Sachsa–Osterhagen–Bartolfelde–Barbis–Bad Lauterberg)
In addition, due to the favorable traffic situation, many long-distance bus lines stop in neighboring Herzberg (accessible by bus 450 or RB 80/81), for example to Jena or Hamburg.
In the street
From the south on the motorway (Kassel - Hanover) you leave this at exit 72 (Göttingen-Nord) and follow the B 27 to Bad Lauterberg for approx. 47 km (direction Braunlage).
Coming from the north you leave the autobahn (Hanover - Kassel) at exit 67 (Seesen) and follow the B 243 for approx. 42 km (towards Osterode; then towards Nordhausen). Leave the B 243 at the 2 AS Bad Lauterberg-West (or Bad Lauterberg-Süd).
Coming from the east you leave the motorway (Halle - Göttingen) at exit 9 ("Dreieck" Großwechselungen) and follow the B 243 direction Osterode for about 25 km to the 3 AS Bad Lauterberg-Süd.
By bicycle

On foot
The European long-distance footpath E6 runs west of Bad Lauterberg on its way from the Hochharz direction Goettingen.
The Karst hiking trail south Harz runs south of Bad Lauterberg on its route along the southern Harz edge of Bad reason and Osterode am Harz coming over Nordhausen until after Sangerhausen.

By bus
Line 450 can be seen as an hourly “city bus”, as it connects all of Bad Lauterberg and all stops. Line 471 ends at Postplatz and thus only opens up the western half.

- 1 Bismarck Tower. The tower stands on the 535 m high Kummel above the city. From the city center it is approx. 3 km one way through beautiful forests up to the tower. The forest restaurant invites you to stop. From the tower you have a beautiful view of Bad Lauterberg and the surrounding Harz mountains.Open: The building is accessible during the opening times of the forest restaurant (daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., no day of rest.
- 2 Local mountain. Lutterberg Castle, built in 1183 and destroyed in 1415, stood on the local mountain. There are still small remains of the curtain wall.
- 3 Castle cable car. The valley station of the cable car is located near the church square. The mountain is easy to climb with
