Cantus on test drives for the East German Railway

The cantus Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH is a subsidiary of the Hessische Landesbahn (HLB) and BeNEX GmbH. The blue, orange and gray painted trains have been running on several routes since December 2006 North and East Hesse. The company is based in kassel, across from Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe long-distance train station.

The cantus-Bahn operates with Flirt-type trains from the manufacturer Stadler Rail. They have 14 three-part trains with a length of 58 m and 7 four-part trains with a length of 74 m. The latter are mainly used in rush hour traffic and offer 219 seats and 238 standing places, while the shorter variant has 167 seats - and has standing room for 174. Every now and then, railcars from other railway companies are tested on the routes operated by cantus Verkehrsgesellschaft.

Multipurpose compartment

The trains of the cantus-Bahn only have 2nd class as well as several multi-purpose compartments and a disabled toilet. Taking bicycles with you is free all day in the North Hessian Transport Association (NVV), as well as between Herleshausen and Eisenach in Thuringia. The Hessen ticket as well as that Thuringia ticket are valid on the Cantus trains, but purchases on the train are only possible if the train is located in the federal state for which a regional ticket is to be purchased. The same applies to Cantus Have a nice weekend ticket as well as that Across the country ticket valid for the journey and available from the ticket machines on the trains. The state tickets for Hesse and Thuringia as well as the Quer -übers-Land-Ticket are valid from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. the following day and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 12 a.m. to 3 a.m. The Nice Weekend Ticket is valid on Saturdays or Sundays, but not on public holidays if they fall on a working day, from midnight to 3 a.m. the following day.
