background

When the timetable changed in December 2014, the network of today's Dreiländerbahn consisted of railway lines that had previously been operated by the former transport company Vectus in Limburg on the Lahn as well as the DB Regio was operated. Until the timetable change, Vectus Verkehrsgesellschaft operated the railway lines with the numbering at that time: RB28, Oberwesterwaldbahn (Limburg - Diez Ost - Westerburg - Hachenburg - Altenkirchen - Au (Sieg) and the RB29, Unterwesterwaldbahn (Limburg - Diez Ost - Montabaur - Wirges - Siershahn) , the DB Regio operated the regional train service on the victory route on the section Au (Sieg) - Betzdorf - Kirchen - Siegen - Dillenburg as well as the Biggesee-Express (Finnentrop - Olpe) and the Ruhr-Sieg-Bahn (Siegen - Kreuztal - Finnentrop). With the timetable change in December 2015, the Hessische Landesbahn took over the transport services of the Hellertalbahn, which runs from Betzdorf via Herdorf, Neunkirchen (Sieg) and Haiger to Dillenburg, through its Dreiländerbahn branch. The Rothaar-Bahn was extended to Betzdorf at the 2014 timetable change and now operates on the Betzdorf - Siegen - Kreuztal - Bad Berleburg section.

The vehicles of the Dreiländerbahn have ticket machines at which all tickets that are valid for immediate travel can be purchased, but with the exception of RMV tickets. Each train also has two ticket validators for VRS and Westphalian tariff tickets, which are only valid with a stamped stamp.
