The southern end of the Ammersee is comparatively flat and rather marshy with pronounced reed banks, there are no special bathing opportunities here, there is a bathing beach with a lawn at the Gasthof Aidenried. The region is all the more popular as a year-round hiking area. In winter the southern part of the lake freezes over very quickly, winter sports are ice hockey and ice skating or ice stock sport.
