background
Barrows and finds show that the region was settled as early as the Celtic times, with a Roman "Urusa" being the predecessor settlement. The place Raisting was first mentioned in a document in 776. In the Middle Ages, Raisting alternately belonged to the area of the regional court Landsberg, then to the gentlemen of Seefeld and then to the monastery These. After secularization, the community became independent in 1818 and was assigned to the Weilheim district office in 1881, which had been part of the Weilheim-Schongau district since 1972.
The administrative community that has existed since May 1978 with Pähl was dissolved again in 2007, the two communities are now independent of each other again.

activities
- The radome in Raisting, a 40 million euro project by the Deutsche Bundespost, was the first system for telecommunication via satellite in Germany at the time and also the largest earth station in Germany at the time. On October 10, 1963 the air dome was inflated with a protective cover and on October 24, 1963 the topping-out ceremony was held. The images of the moon landing were sent to all of Europe via the system, and the red telephone, the most important telephone connection in the Cold War between Washington and Moscow at the time, was also sent via Raisting.
- The Radom was taken over by the district in November 2007; it is trying to set up a museum for communication technology through a sponsoring association and to preserve the Radome as an industrial monument.
- The remaining transmission systems consisting of twenty gigantic antenna dishes were taken over at the end of 2005 by the private company "emc", which offers its customers data and voice connections via satellite here.
