The community Pähl is a resort and is located south of the Ammersee in the Pfaffenwinkel in Upper Bavaria.
background
Barrows and finds prove that the region was already settled in the times of the Celts and Romans, and the place is believed to have been mentioned for the first time in 748. The spelling in the 8th century is Poule or Powele and is derived from the Latin bovile for ox barn. From 1270 Pähl is the seat of the district court Pähl-Weilheim and in the Middle Ages it was part of the area of influence of the nearby monastery Andechs.
The administrative community that has existed since May 1978 with Raising was dissolved again in 2007, the two communities are now independent of each other again.
Today, Pähl shows the typical townscape of a rural Upper Bavarian pre-Alpine community with farms and inns and gives around 50 guest beds.

The nearest major international airport is that Munich Airport (Also Franz Josef Strauss, distance 76 km, approx. a good hour's drive). The can also be reached quickly Innsbruck airport (111 km, one and a half hours by car).
By train
The next train stations are in Herrsching (S-Bahn connection to Munich), Raising, Tutzing (S-Bahn connection to Munich) and Weilheim, continue by bus or taxi.

Tourist Attractions
- catholic parish church St. Laurence, originated as a late baroque building, was the builder Wessobrunner Johann Schmutzer, the church was consecrated in 1734. Inside the church, the ceiling fresco by Johann Baader is particularly worth seeing.
- Filial church of St. Pankratius
- Lower lock, the three-storey building was built in the middle of the 16th century, was destroyed in 1633 and then rebuilt. Today private use as an event building.
- Upper lock (Hochschloss): origins in the 8th century, and from 1253 seat of the Pähl-Weilheim district court.
- In the possession of the sovereign "Duke Maximilian I" until 1618. After this line of princes and dukes of the Wittelsbach family died out, the high palace fell to the combined line of the Palatinate-Bavarian Wittelsbach family. The current palace complex was built from 1883 - 1835 according to the plans of the Architect Alfred Schmidt as a castle-style villa.

- Location: In the forest to the east of the village and to the south-east a little below the Hohen Schloss, from Sternstrasse, via an approx. 1.5 km long, and in places somewhat difficult, path to reach in approx. 30 minutes.
