Welsberg Castle stands on a steep rock terrace. The form of this castle complex can be found quite rarely, which is called the core castle in castle history. The unusually high keep was built between 1126-1140 and is the oldest part of the castle. It was a bulwark against attackers. The palace and the farm buildings date from the 15th and 16th centuries. The Lords of Welsperg were among the most important noble families in Tyrol. Welsberg Castle can be visited from June to September.
