Heilbad Heiligenstadt is a city in Eichsfeld in Thuringia.

The Heilbad Heiligenstadt is a district town in the middle of the Eichsfeld and a well-known brine health resort. The spa clinics, spa and spa gardens have clearly influenced the tourist character of the city since reunification, which also has something worthwhile to offer for travelers without spa ambitions. Theodor Storm, who served as district judge in Heiligenstadt for 8 years (1856 - 1864), has set a monument to the city (not only) with a literature museum; Harry Heine (= Heinrich Heine) was baptized here on June 28th, 1825 under the Protestant name Christian Johann Heinrich. The city center was extensively renovated and numerous large churches show the strong religious character of the city, which as a center of the Eichsfeld is still characterized by Roman Catholic customs and festivals.

The nearest commercial airports are Hanover Airport
(IATA: HAJ) and airport Frankfurt(IATA: FRA). Also the Leipzig Halle Airport(IATA: LEJ) is easily accessible, but has fewer flight connections than the first two airports mentioned.
Private pilots with larger planes can head for the Göttingen-Heilbad Heiligenstadt airfield.
By train
The 1 Heiligenstadt station is free to change trains with regional trains, which mostly run every hour, among others from kassel, Goettingen, Erfurt and Halle (Saale) reachable.
By bus
In the street
Heiligenstadt is located directly on the motorway 
(Friedland - Halle / Saale route). The Heiligenstadt exit is about 3 kilometers north. The federal highway 
crosses Heiligenstadt in an east-west direction.
By bicycle
The Leine-Heide cycle path leads from Leinefelde Coming through the middle of Heiligenstadt and runs directly past the spa gardens.
From the Leine-Heide cycle path, the Unstrut-Leine connection cycle path leads from Heiligenstadt to the connection to the Unstrut cycle path in Kefferhausen Dingelstädt.
On foot
The Loccum-Volkenroda pilgrimage route runs through Heiligenstadt. Stage 15 leads in 21 km from Friedland to Heiligenstadt. Next after Mühlhausen (Thuringia) you have the choice between variant 16a and 17a Dingelstädt (a total of 41 km) or the variant 16b and 17b over Beinrode (approx. 55 km in total).
