Loddin is about in the middle of the island Usedom and has almost 1,000 inhabitants. In 2005, the seaside resorts in the center of Usedom (Zempin, Koserow, Loddin and Ückeritz) merged to form an association under the name "Amber Baths".

background

Loddin is located near the narrowest point of the Baltic Sea island on a peninsula protruding into the backwater, which is limited to the east by the Melle, an arm of the backwater. Due to the proximity of the Achterwasser and Baltic Sea coasts and the Kölpinsee (eponymous) located directly behind the Baltic Sea dike, Loddin is located in one of the most attractive scenic locations on the island of Usedom.

getting there

Loddin, Loddin-Kölpinsee and Stubbenfelde can be easily reached by car via the federal road B111. It does not matter whether you arrive via Wolgast or via Zecherin / Usedom. Alternatively, the Usedomer Bäderbahn can be used to the Kölpinsee or Stubbenfelde train stations.

mobility

Due to its very central location in the middle of the island, Kölpinsee offers short distances to all interesting excursion destinations and sights, but also ideal transport links. It should be emphasized that none of this is at the expense of tranquility and closeness to nature.

The B 111 connects Kölpinsee with (from Trassenheide and Karlshagen apart) with all seaside resorts on the island of Usedom and leads to Swinoujscie. A small network of local roads opens up the small seaside resort between the Baltic Sea beach and Loddiner Höft on the other side of the main road.

In the immediate vicinity of the B111 is the Kölpinsee train station and opposite, on the main road, the bus station. All seaside resorts can be reached by train (Trassenheide and Karlshagen after changing to Zinnowitz); the route leads to Swinoujscie. Another train station is located in Stubbenfelde, from which the sea can be reached in a few hundred meters.

Kölpinsee is part of the extensive network of cycle paths on the island of Usedom. The most popular route is likely to be the coastal cycle path, which leads directly along the Kölpinsee. The backwater coast at Loddiner Höft can also be easily reached by bike. Although the last few meters lead over ordinary dirt roads, a visit to this unique landscape is highly recommended, especially when the sun sets over the backwater.

Tourist Attractions

As almost everywhere on the island of Usedom, nature ranks first as a "provider" of sights. Two clear favorites can be identified in the seaside resort of Loddin: the landscape panoramas between the Baltic Sea beach and Kölpinsee (the latter with the picturesque, small Swan Island) and the Loddiner Höft.

The white sandy beach of Kölpinsee is separated by a rising and falling relief of the steep (Streckelsberg, Pageluns mountains) and flat coasts and thus gains an additional, enriching element. Directly behind the dike on the flat coast between Kölpinsee and Stubbenfelde lies the Kölpinsee with its swan island and jetty. A circular hiking trail leads around the lake.

This is a peninsula that protrudes into the backwater and, together with the nearby Baltic Sea coast, forms a unique landscape on the island of Usedom. In the west, the farm rises to a steep coast on the backwater, under which there is a small, secluded sandy beach. In the direction of [Ückeritz] the Melle, an arm of the Achterwasser, constricts the Höft peninsula.

The Seebad Loddin is one of the smaller baths on Usedom. Magnificent bath villas, as in Heringsdorf, you rarely meet. For this, you can look at some worth seeing listed buildings. The structural ensemble of the Loddin district with many thatched farmhouses and fishermen's houses is a good example of this.

activities

In view of the maritime landscape spreading in all directions, walking and cycling are naturally in the foreground. In addition to beach hikes or bike trips along the coastal path in the direction of Koserow or Ückeritz The gentle, harmonious coastal landscape on the backwater offers ideal conditions for long hikes. A longer dike hike from the port of Loddin to Damerow (west of Koserow) with the way back on the Baltic Sea beach to be recommended, as well as a hike to the Loddiner Höft.

The sights of the island of Usedom can be easily reached from Kölpinsee. A ride on the Bäderbahn can be combined with a visit to the Heimatstube in the Kölpinsee train station.

The highlight of local life is the annual harvest festival organized by the Heimatverein. The festival takes place in September against the beautiful backdrop of Achterwasser and Loddin harbor.

accommodation

Like all other seaside resorts on Usedom, Loddin has many accommodations for different tastes and budgets. In addition to a few hotels, there are many holiday apartments and holiday homes.
