By train

The next train station is in Anklam, because the line from Ducherow has been interrupted since 1945. A reopening of the route is occasionally haunted by planning staff, but (as of 2019) it is far from being realized.

In the street

Coming from the south or west, Rankwitz is via the Ostseautobahn A 20 to reach. From the Pasewalk or Jarmen junction you can get to the federal road 109 or 110 Anklam. Then continue on the B110 over the bridge (bridge opening 15 minutes at 5.35 a.m. (until May 2nd, 5.25 a.m.), 8.35 a.m., 12.35 p.m., 4.35 p.m. and 8.35 p.m.) in Zecherin to Usedom.

By boat

Pictogram Kielboot.svg There is a small port on the Usedomer See, which over the narrow connection throat is connected to the Szczecin Lagoon. In the former fishing port there are 5 guest berths, toilets, electricity and water in the container, no land connections at the jetty. The port of Karnin offers 15 guest berths.

The throat lies between the Westklüne and Ostklüne settlements, you can go with one 3 Rowboat ferry translate. To call the ferryman you have to press the bell system. Ferry service is daily until 3 p.m.

    • 1 The Anklamer gate was part of the medieval fortification, today the Usedomer Heimatstube and a permanent exhibition about former life on the island is located in the tower.

    • 2 The St. Mary's Church was first mentioned in 1337, the tower and chancel were given their present shape from 1891 to 1893.
    • 3 The town hall
  • 4 On the Schlossberg In 1128, the West Pomeranian Wenden princes voluntarily sealed the acceptance of the Christian faith. At that time there was a Slavic castle on the Schloßberg. The castle, which was built on the castle grounds around 1300, was destroyed in the city fire of 1476.
  • 5 In the Karnin lift bridge there are the remains of a former 350 m long railway bridge to visit. The bridge structure was completed in 1933 and was part of the Ducherow – Heringsdorf – Wolgaster ferry line. It represented the connection between the mainland and the island of Usedom. The bridge was destroyed in 1945. The lifting part of the bridge, which was movable at the time, has been an unchanged technical monument in the middle of the Peene River since the end of the war. Round trips around the bridge are offered in summer from the ferry dock in the customs port of Karnin.
  • 6 The Zecheriner Bridge is opened several times a day as a bascule bridge for shipping and connects the island of Usedom with the mainland. On the Usedom side there is a restaurant with a beer garden right next to the bridge.

  • 7 The throat south of the city connects the Usedom lake with the Oderhaff (Stettiner Haff). It lies between the two settlements Westklüne and Ostklüne, both of which consist of only a few houses. A rowboat ferry can be used to cross the throat.
