The seaside resort Zempin is the smallest seaside resort on the Baltic coast Usedoms in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

background

It is between the Baltic Sea Zinnowitz and Koserow. Zempin extends from the backwater coast to the Baltic Sea beach and is located near the narrowest point on the island (Lütten Ort). Since 2005, Zempin has been operating alongside the seaside resorts Koserow, Loddin and Ückeritz under the common name "amber baths".

getting there

Rail and road

Between Zinnowitz and Ückeritz the traffic routes of the federal road and the Bäderbahn follow the constriction in Usedom's center, so that the course of the road and the railway line are not far from each other. This means that Zempin can be reached just as easily by car or train. The stop of the Usedomer Bäderbahn is located in the far east of the seaside resort, so that the journey to an accommodation in the west may require a taxi; the distances in town are up to 2 km. The Usedomer Bäderbahn of Stralsund coming runs every hour until Swinoujscie (Świnoujście Centrum) in Poland.

By bicycle

mobility

All destinations on Usedom can be reached by car via the B 111. In midsummer - especially when the weather is bad - slow-moving traffic can occur, as traffic parallel to the coast can only be guided via the B 111. As an alternative, there is the bathing railway, which runs between Wolgast and Swinoujscie as well as between Zinnowitz and Peenemünde wrong. The UBB also transports bicycles for a fee.

The coastal cycle path leads along the Zempin beach promenade - an ideal starting point for cycle tours on the Baltic Sea coast.

At the backwater there are hikes to Zinnowitz and, with restrictions, on the dike Koserow possible.

Piers, from which boat trips can be started, can be found in the neighboring towns of Zinnowitz and Koserow.

Tourist Attractions

In addition to the beach promenade with small houses, some of which are on the Baltic Sea dike, the backwater port of Zempin is worth seeing. The southern orientation and the traditional buildings near the harbor create a very pleasant atmosphere.

In an easterly direction you get from the Achterwasserhafen to Lütten Ort, the narrowest part of Usedom. Here the water office "Rieck" of the backwater stretches far north. Backwater and Baltic Sea dikes are only a few meters apart. At this point is the Otto Niemeyer-Holstein memorial studio, one of the most important German painters of the 20th century.

To the west of Zempin, in the coastal forest, you can see the rest of a catapult launch system for the Fi 103 ("V1") robot bomb, which was part of the Peenemünde-West weapons development program.

activities

Beach hiking, bathing, beach volleyball, swimming - all activities on the Baltic Sea beach are definitely in the foreground. The backwater side with the small sport boat harbor offers the opportunity for excursions by sailing or rowing boat.

Hikes along the backwater dike or on the coastal path are just as interesting and pleasant as bike tours parallel to the Baltic Sea coast.

shop

As the smallest seaside resort in Usedom, Zempin offers goods for daily supplies. If you really want to go shopping, you will find it in the neighboring Zinnowitz well served. Here shops of all kinds offer temptations for all tastes and budgets.
