Modolo is a center of the Sardinia western, in the province of Oristano.

To know

It is part of the authentic villages of Italy and is famous for the production of wine such as Malvasia.

Geographical notes

Modolo is located in the historical subregion of Planargia and borders on Bosa, Flow, Magomadas is Suni.

In the province of Nuoro until 2005, it passed from that year in the province of Oristano.

By plane

From the following airports it is possible, thanks to several car rental companies present, to rent a car to reach Modolo.

By car

  • From Cagliari, Oristano, Sassari is Porto Torres take the Strada Statale 131 Carlo Felice and take the exit Macomer-Bosa, take the SS 129 bis Trasversale Sarda towards Bosa, then, take the exit for Modolo and take the Provincial Road 35 to arrive at your destination after about 3 km.
  • From Alghero drive along the coast road Alghero-Bosa, then arrived in Bosa, follow the signs for Macomer and Suni and exit the city onto the Strada Statale 129 bis Trasversale Sarda; after a few km, turn right onto Provincial Road 35 to arrive at your destination after about 3 km.
  • From Golfo Aranci is Olbia take the SS 729 Sassari-Olbia, then take the SS 131 Carlo Felice towards Cagliari and then take the exit Macomer-Bosa and take the SS 129 bis Trasversale Sarda towards Bosa, then, take the exit for Modolo and take the Provincial Road 35 to arrive at your destination after about 3 km
  • From Nuoro take the Strada Statale 131 d.c.n. towards Cagliari, then take the exit Macomer-Sassari and take the SS 129 Trasversale Sarda; arrived near Macomer, take the Strada Statale 131 Carlo Felice towards Sassari and take the exit Macomer-Bosa, take the SS 129 bis Trasversale Sarda towards Bosa, then, take the exit for Modolo and take the Provincial Road 35 to arrive at your destination after about 3 km
  • From Tortolì take the State Road 198 of Seui and Lanusei, then, after 2 km, follow the signs for Nuoro and turn right onto the provincial road 27, arrived at Villagrande Strisaili, turn left always following the signs for Nuoro, then take the state road 389 Var Nuoro-Lanusei and follow it up to Nuoro. Once here, do not enter the city but follow the signs for Cagliari and take the Strada Statale 131 d.c.n., then take the exit Macomer-Sassari and take the SS 129 Trasversale Sarda; arrived near Macomer, take the Strada Statale 131 Carlo Felice towards Sassari and take the exit Macomer-Bosa, take the SS 129 bis Trasversale Sarda towards Bosa, then, take the exit for Modolo and take the Provincial Road 35 to arrive at your destination after about 3 km
  • From Lanusei take State Road 198 of Seui and Lanusei, then follow the signs for Nuoro and turn right onto State Road 389 of Buddusò and Correboi which after about 10 becomes State Road 389 var Nuoro-Lanusei, follow the latter up to Nuoro. Once here, do not enter the city but follow the signs for Cagliari and take the Strada Statale 131 d.c.n., then take the exit Macomer-Sassari and take the SS 129 Trasversale Sarda; arrived near Macomer, take the Strada Statale 131 Carlo Felice towards Sassari and take the exit Macomer-Bosa, take the SS 129 bis Trasversale Sarda towards Bosa, then, take the exit for Modolo and take the Provincial Road 35 to arrive at your destination after about 3 km

On boat

From the port of Porto Torres, or from the ports of Olbia- White Island, Golfo Aranci, Cagliari is Tortolì-Arbatax.

By bus

There line 9225 Bosa-Suni Suni-Bosa of the Arst makes stops in Modolo.

  • Furthermore, around the town, there are archaeological bases of nuraghi, domus de janas and the remains of a Roman villa.
  • 5 Nuraghe Seneghe (Located in the Modolo valley in the territory of Suni.). Nuraghe with a tower six meters high, built with huge basaltic blocks arranged in horizontal rows, a corridor from which three niches and two architraved entrances branch off.
  • 6 Funtana Su Anzu (Location located above the State Road 129 bis per Bosa.). Roman site with fountain and belvedere.
