Novosibirsk (Russian: Новосибирск, engl. Transcription: Novosibirsk) is the third largest city with around 1.6 million inhabitants Of Russia and the largest city in Siberia. The city lies on the Ob, which is up to one kilometer wide here. The river is dammed right in front of the city.

Novosibirsk was founded in 1893 on a bridge over the Ob. Today the Dimitrov Bridge (Димитровский мост) and Oktyabrsky Bridge (Октябрьский Мост) connect the banks.
On the right bank, south of the old town (Центральный район) is the district Oktyabr'sky rajon (Октябрьский район). Then up to the dam of the Pervomaysky rajon and the Sovetsky rajon (Советский район). Both are primarily residential and industrial areas. The city founded in 1957 1 Akademgorodok During the Soviet era, it was a privileged place with 65,000 scientists among its 200,000 inhabitants. It fell into disrepair after 1991 and the number of residents fell to 50,000. As a residential area, the area is valued again because of its higher quality compared to the prefabricated buildings in other suburbs.
On the left bank, on the way to the airport, are the Leninsky rajon and the Kirovsky rajon (Кировский район), which offer little touristy.

The airport is 16 km from the city center and has over four million passengers a year. There are regular flights to many major Russian cities including Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Khabarovsk, Vladivostok, Krasnodar, Omsk, Ulan-Ude, Samara and Ufa, and Yekaterinburg as well as international flights to Dushanbe, Istanbul, Baku, Prague, Yerevan, Beijing, Almaty, Osh, Bishkek and Dubai.
To travel between the airport and the city:
- Bus # 111 (48 rubles, 2020) runs every half an hour between the airport and Novosibirsk-Glawny Railway Station (Новосибирск-Главный) and Avtovokzal Bus Station (Автовокзал) (30 minutes).
- Minibus # 312 runs between the airport and the main train station.
- Bus # 112 (33 rubles, 2020) runs between the airport and the mall Mega (IKEA).
- A taxi takes around 30 minutes and should cost around 500 rubles if negotiated in advance.

The trains go to Moscow, Beijing, Ulan Baator or Vladivostok. There are also regional trains to most of the nearby cities. Timetables and fares can be found on the RZD website to be sought.

Novosibirsk is with Chelyabinsk (1532 km) and Omsk (660 km) by the trunk road R254 Irtysh (formerly M51, = Europastraße 30).
Here is the western starting point of the R255 Sibir (formerly M53). It leads over Jurga (168 km), where there is a junction up Tomsk (99 km) gives way Krasnoyarsk (796 km) then continue to Irkutsk (1792 km).

The city center is quite compact and a walk from the train station to Lenin Square takes about 20 minutes.
Public transport includes a metro system in the city center as well as buses, trams, marshrutki (minibuses) and trolleybuses. A trip on public transport within the city costs 35 rubles or less.
There are rechargeable prepaid cards (ETK), which are valid in all means of transport and bring 1 round discount per trip. They are available at all subway ticket offices and service centers.
Subway
Operating time is 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. At rush hour there is a train every 3-5 minutes and late at night about every 11-13 minutes.
The single journey costs 26 R. (Dec. 2020). Payment is made with the typical Soviet metal tokens that are thrown in at the turnstile. Since 2016, the turnstiles have also been equipped with value and credit card readers (NFC).
The four final stops are each well-developed transfer points for trams and buses.
Ferries
The central offshoot for excursion boats operated in summer (May-Sept.) Is the 5 Invoice vocal (Речной вокзал, "river station") about 200 meters from the subway station of the same name.

Starting from Lenin Square, a touristic circular route has been marked out in the city center, which is marked by a red line on the sidewalk. The route goes along Krasnij prospekt, Maksima Gor'kogo ul., Pervomayskiy skver, ul. Sovetskaya, ul. Uritskogo, ul. Lenina to Lenin Square. If you walk comfortably, you need about 45 minutes. - 9 Museum of the History and Culture of the Siberian Peoples (Музей истории и культуры народов Сибири и Дальнего Востока), Zolotodolinskaya ul., 4. Outdoor area but also a lot of prehistoric things. (Nota bene there is a sign “Welcome”, which leads to the “Restaurant Cologne” around the corner. Although there is no Kölsch there, there is at least German imported beer).
