Ostiano is a city of Lombardy.
To know
Borderland, it was administratively part of the provinces of Brescia, of Mantua, of Casalmaggiore, of Cremona. It is now part of the Cremonese territory, but periodically Brescian yearnings reappear, whose ancient domination has left substantial traces in the mentality of the people and in their speech, despite the Gonzaga domination has profoundly shaped its urban planning.

Background
Its history originated from the settlements of the Romans committed to fighting the Insubri Gauls; the toponym derives from Cesare Valente Ostiliano, who founded the new settlement by donating it to veterans.
In the 11th century the emperor Arrigo II gave it to the Benedictine Abbey of Leno. It suffered fires and destruction during the struggles between Guelphs and Ghibellines. From the fifteenth century it was coveted by Mantua to from Milan; to put an end to the struggles that troubled him he spontaneously gave himself in 1414 to the Gonzagas. It was part of the Principality of Cocoon. In modern times, with the referendum of 1868, he chose to belong to the territory of Cremona.

- Castle. Built in 1511 by the Gonzagas, it stood to defend the territories of the ducal family. Today only an entrance tower and the Spinata gate remain.
