Tourist Attractions

The Unstrut, a river ideal for water hikes, winds past the town center in Roßleben and leads downstream into the charming landscapes of Memleben (imperial palace and grave of the first German emperor Otto I), Wangen mit der Steinklöbe (a wildly romantic, lonely steep bank) to Nebra (Lock), Laucha (Vineyards, airfield), Freyburg (where the wine for the world-famous Rotkäppchen sparkling wine grows on the vineyards with the sweet winery houses) to Naumburg, where the Unstrut flows into the Saale shortly after a cable ferry. The rafts and other strange companions that frolic on the Unstrut are also great on Ascension Day. Because the Unstrut flows so slowly, you can "let yourself drift".

The Monastery school - the fourth oldest school in Germany after Schulpforta near Naumburg, St. Afra near Meißen and the St. Thomas School in Leipzig - is in Roßleben. Founded in 1554 and emerged from a monastery, it is officially called "Staatliches Gymnasium Klosterschule Roßleben" and accommodates around 700 students from all over Europe in a Renaissance building from the 16th century (the old one was burned down). The inner courtyard, the school's own church and the large park are particularly worth seeing.

From the park you can walk in a few steps to one of the romantic oxbow lakes of the Unstrut and let your mind wander. Here you will also find the boathouse with jetty of the famous Roßleber rowing club, which even closes it World champion fame brought and traditionally organized the "rowing" here in spring. Canoes and rowing boats can be hired from the canoe rental shop in Nebra, luggage and return transport is included. Due to the slow flow speed of the Unstrut in Roßleben, extensive canoe and boat tours are possible in natural surroundings.

After a hike or a bike tour, you can relax in the heated Roßleber swimming pool Refresh in the forest or in Wiehe at the traditional ice cream parlor "Zur Teichmühle" in the shadow of the Wiehe Castle Lick a soft ice cream "like in the past".
