Rozewie (German Rixthof) is a seaside resort in Poland in the voivodeship Pomerania at the Slowinsian coast, the central part of the Polish Baltic coast. Cape Rozewie in the village was until 2003 the northernmost point of the Polish Baltic Sea coast and thus all of Poland. After a re-survey of the coast in 2003 it was found that the immediately adjacent Jastrzębia Góra two meters further north than Cape Rozewie. There are two lighthouses with viewing platforms in the village, but only the older one is in operation. The place is on a high cliff above the beach.

The place is quite small and manageable. It is therefore particularly suitable for tourists who are looking for peace and relaxation on the beach and in nature away from the hustle and bustle. However, it can get quite crowded in the high season in July and August.

The seaside resort developed from a fishing village. However, the community did not come into being under the current Polish and German name until the interwar period. However, the cape was previously called Rozewie or Rixthöf.

By plane

By train

You can travel by train from Germany via Swinoujscie or over Szczecin respectively. The place itself does not have a train station. The nearby place Wladyslawowo but is with the train Gdynia connected. The Polish rail network is operated by the state railway PKP. Rail travel in Poland is very cheap.

By bus

Numerous bus companies offer bus trips to Słupsk from Germany and Austria, e.g. Sindbad, Eurolines, Touring, Omnia. Inexpensive intercity buses run from Gdynia. In addition to the state bus line PKS, there is a wide range of private providers.

In the street

The road network around Rozewie is well equipped, the place is north of the coastal road Expressway S6 and their junction 215 Voivodeship Street. The journey from Germany is via Berlin, Szczecin and Slupsk possible.

By boat

The place itself has no pier. If you come with your own or a chartered (sailing) boat, you can moor in one of the neighboring coastal towns.

On foot

The long-distance hiking trail European long-distance hiking trail E9 leads to the place on the coast.

bicycle

The Baltic Sea Cycle Route leads to the place on the coast.

Tourist Attractions

The main attractions of the place are the sandy beach and the two lighthouses.

  • 1  Lighthouses. The approx. 33 meter high lighthouse dates from 1822. It has an accessible viewing platform. The New Lighthouse dates from 1875, but has not been in operation since 1910. The light of the Old Lighthouse has the greatest range of all lighthouses on the Polish Baltic coast.

activities

The main activity of the place is sunbathing and swimming. There are numerous marked hiking trails around the place.

The shops in town are limited to daily needs and small souvenirs. You should go shopping Gdynia or Danzig because the choice is significantly larger there.

Due to the proximity to the open sea, but also to inland waters, marine and freshwater fish are the main components of the regional cuisine.

There are nightlife options in the village. Night owls will, however, go to Gdynia, Danzig or one of the neighboring larger cities.

For German-speaking tourists who are looking for a holiday job in the region, there are opportunities in tourism and gastronomy. However, the payment should not correspond to German conditions.

The Baltic coast usually falls flat under water and there are hardly any tides or unpredictable currents. The Jarmunder See is also shallow. Bathing is therefore usually safe for families with children and swimming accidents are rare. When swimming accidents do occur, excessive alcohol or drug consumption is usually involved. However, if you follow the general bathing rules and do not go into the water when the waves are high, you have little to fear.
