Introduction

The road has been partly carved into the rock since the mid-nineteenth century and since 2004 has become one of the most beautiful trails in Europe.

On the train

  • Railway station of Desenzano del Garda. Served by Frecciabianca for Milano Centrale, Torino Porta Susa, Trieste Centrale and Venezia Santa Lucia; from Frecciarossa to Brescia and Roma Termini and from regional to Milano Centrale and Verona Porta Nuova.

Safety

  • Find out directly on the spot about the current conditions of the trail and the weather conditions;
  • Path for expert hikers to be carried out in a season that is not too hot and with equipment and clothing suitable for hiking-mountaineering routes. Bring some water with you;
  • The path is quite long and subject to falling rocks, a protective helmet is recommended. It presents difficulties in the last stretch towards the Ledro lake, where the path crosses an uphill forest;
  • Pay attention to cyclists whizzing at high speed creating discomfort for pedestrians;
  • The route is not recommended for strollers; dogs are allowed as long as they are kept on a leash.
