Twente is a small metropolitan area in the east of the Netherlands, right on the border North Rhine-Westphalia and to Lower Saxony. Most of it belongs to the province Overijssel; Municipalities belonging to the adjacent province Gelderland are not described in this article. The center of the region is the big city Enschede.
