The province Utrecht lies in the middle of the Netherlands and is the smallest province in the country. At the end of 2013 it had about 1.25 million inhabitants. The densely populated province is usually used to Randstad expected.
Utrecht borders in the west and south-west South Holland, to the east and south-east Gelderland, in the northwest North Holland and in the northeast to the Eemmeer, one of the marginal lakes Flevoland.
