Lubuskie - a voivodeship in the west Poland, created in the areas of the so-called Recovered Territories. The Lubuskie Voivodeship has an area of ​​13,987 km² and a population of approx. 1,020,000 inhabitants (31 December 2012).

Geography

Lubuskie Voivodeship is situated at the crossroads of natural north-south and east-west routes, which, together with the developing road network, means that the region is well connected with the rest of Poland and Europe. The most important cities in Lubuskie are over one hundred thousand Zielona Góra and Gorzów Wielkopolski and smaller cities such as: new salt, Zagan, Żary. The capital of Poland, Warsaw, is located approx. 450 kilometers from the voivodeship, and the capital of Germany - Berlin - it is located respectively 134 km from Gorzów Wielkopolski and 182 km from Zielona Góra.

Interesting specimens of flora and fauna can be found in a relatively small area of ​​the voivodeship.

About 90 species of protected plants have been registered here, which are located in Drawieński National Park, 7 landscape parks and 51 nature reserves. Steppe vegetation can be admired on the section of the Kostrzyn-Słubice road. An opportunity to admire wild nature is found near Kostrzyn, where in the Warta backwaters there is a waterfowl reserve with numerous species such as greylag goose, cranes and rare specimens of small gulls.

The fauna of the Lubuskie Region is equally interesting. There are numerous cormorants, beavers, deer, wild boars, foxes, hares, fallow deer, roe deer, pheasants and partridges. If you are lucky, you can meet an elk, a black grouse, a capercaillie or a wolf.

A specific natural phenomenon in this area is the fauna reserve "Nietoperek" in the basement of the Międzyrzecki Fortified Region. It is one of the largest bat wintering grounds in Europe.

Thanks to joint efforts, the voivodeship is at the forefront of regions caring for ecology. Lubuskie is an attractive area for foreign investors. These companies find good conditions for development here and have a significant share in the region's foreign trade. The most important trade partner of the Lubuskie Voivodeship is the Federal Republic of Germany. Almost 70% of goods and services exported by Lubuskie companies go to the German market. It is followed by Italy (4.1%), the Netherlands (3.5%) and Denmark (3.3%). Germany also has over 50% share in imports, and the position of Italy (7.4%), Denmark (4.2%) and the Czech Republic (3.3%) is significant among other partners.

Two main roads running through the voivodeship are of key importance: Silesia - Szczecin and the state border in Kunowice - Poznań - Warsaw.
