Bredstedt (Danish: Bredsted, Frisian: Brewer) is a small town in North Frisia. Since 2001 the small town has been allowed to bear the title of "climatic health resort".
background
The Low German local poet Klaus Groth once described his verse with a pinch of humor De Heisterkrog Bredstedt's location:
"Ol Bredstedt is right in the middle of a world, where all paths lead to un wedder away."
This attribute is still valid today. The two main traffic routes in North Friesland lead to the Bundesstrasse 5 or in public transport die Marching track about halfway between the Eider and Wiedau directly through the locality.
Today more functions have been added. Due to its central location, Bredstedt is now also the institutional center of the North Frisians with the central minority institutions located here Nordfriisk Instituut and Friisk Hus.
Otherwise Bredstedt is a quiet holiday destination with extensive activity potential "in buten" in the midst of a rich cultural and natural landscape, in the surrounding landscape areas of Marsch, Geest and the nearby Wadden Sea National Park and World Heritage Site.

- The nearest commercial airports are the 1 Sylt Airport
(IATA: GWT) (66 km) and the 2 Hamburg Airport(IATA: HAM) (170 km). - The 3 Heide-Büsum airfield(IATA: HEI) has a fired runway for aircraft up to 5.7 t gross vehicle weight. There is a flight connection from Heligoland with the OFD. (71 km)
- The closest sports airfield is the 4 Husum Airport(IATA: QHU) in Schwesing. It is located approx. 20 km southeast of Bredstedt and is only approached by small private planes.
- Within the city limits there is a factory runway for ultralight aircraft (UL and LSA) of the locally based, private aircraft manufacturer Breezer Aircraft.
By train
- The 5 Bredstedt station is integrated into the transport network of the Schleswig-Holstein local transport network. Bredstedt is on the Marschbahn, on which the traffic performance of the RE 6Hamburg-Altona - Husum - Bredstedt - Niebüll - Westerland (Sylt) Bredstedt train station is also served every hour.
By bus
At the 6 Bredstedt train station is also the central transfer stop between the regional bus service and the local dial-a-bus service to the surrounding communities, which has existed since August 2019. Next to it is also the stop 7 Bredstedt, market approached by various bus routes. The regional bus routes R120 (from / to Husum, ZOB and Langenhorn) and R125 (from / to Flensburg ZOB) are particularly interesting. The clock frequencies are:

By boat
The closest ship landing stages are in the ports of Schlüttsiel (18 km) and Husum (19 km). Access by public transport is possible from both locations.
By bicycle
The North Sea Cycle Route leads on the outer dike through the neighboring municipality of Reußenköge. Starting from the route section Lüttmoorsiel to Amsinckhaus there is the shortest distance into the hinterland to Bredstedt (the route is signposted by the official bicycle route signs). These routes are (partially) touristically developed, regional adventure routes (Beltringhard Route and Route through the Köge).
mobility
The urban area of Bredstedt is not that big, so that it is usually easy to explore on foot. For trips to the neighboring communities, an on-call bus area has been set up in the surrounding communities since August 1, 2019, which connects all bus stops located there.[1]
In addition, the entire administrative area has a comprehensively developed cycle path infrastructure (including officially planned and monitored signage), which is used a lot in the holiday season.
There are permanent taxi stands in front of the station building and at the Markt bus stop (across the street).

- Telecommunication tower Bredstedt - On the highest elevation (44 m asl) of the mainland part of North Friesland, the Stollberg near Bredstedt, there is a telecommunications tower. If the visibility is good, you can let your gaze slide over the Halligen and islands of the Wadden Sea from the visitor platform. - Halligen Langeneß and Hooge: The landside access to these Halligen is from the nearby ferry port Schlüttsiel. This can be easily reached from Bredstedt both individually by car and by bike (18 km). In public transport, bus line 1029 connects[2] in the Local transport association Schleswig-Holstein Bredstedt with Schlüttsiel. This stop is also integrated into the Langenhorn dial-a-ride area.[3]
- Hamburger Hallig: Landside access from Bredstedt is very good by car (8.7 km) or bicycle (7.3 km) or with the Bredstedt dial-a-ride bus to the destination stop Sönke-Nissen-Koog Amsinckhaus possible. You can continue on foot or with your own or rented bike over the dam to Hallig. In addition, seasonally in spring / summer there is also the possibility of driving directly to the foot of the main moor on the Hallig. However, the parking space there is to be assessed as scarce during the holiday periods (especially on weekends). In this case, there is sometimes a waiting line of cars at the barrier to the access to the dam at the Amsinckhaus.
