Eisenach train station - Eisenach Bahnhof

The Eisenach railway station, unofficially too Eisenach main station, is one of the most important train stations in Thuringian Forest and is currently in station category 3. It is centrally located as a hub in Eisenach with currently around 5000 travelers per day.

After about a year of construction, the Eisenach station was ceremoniously opened on June 24, 1847 as the provisional terminus of the railway line Gotha-Eisenach opened. A good two years later, the line was also closed Hesse inaugurated, and Eisenach station developed into a railway junction in 1858 at the latest when the Werra Railway was completed Thuringia. Between 1859 and 1861, as well as in 1885, the facility was expanded several times due to the expansion of the local railway lines and went to the Prussian State Railways, from August 1, 1897, the Eisenach tram stopped on the station forecourt. In 1904 the station building was rebuilt for the increasing number of travelers.

From Eisenach train station, you can also quickly walk to the Eisenacher Downtown. The tram from Eisenach was shut down in 1975, instead buses now run from the station forecourt, see also the section on buses.

Approach & parking motor vehicles

  • Public parking - The parking situation at Eisenach train station is difficult, the next larger public parking lot is the City-Parkhaus on the corner of Uferstrasse and Sommerstrasse. The car park is open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., from there it is a 650 m walk to Eisenach train station.
  • DB parking spaces on the other hand are on the station forecourt. More information about the 63 parking spaces at BahnPark.

There is a taxi stand opposite the station building on Bahnhofstrasse at the city bus stops.

Of the 6 railway tracks, 4 are currently served by Deutsche Bahn long-distance traffic. The SüdThüringenBahn usually runs from tracks 1 and 2, tracks 3-5 are shared by Deutsche Bahn trains (DB Regio) and from platform 6 the runs cantus transport company direction Bebra. There are also some through or sidings, some of which lead to the large freight yard east of the Eisenach train station.

The DB Information (ex. ServicePoint) is located in the station hall and is open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

DB travel center

Opening times: Monday 6:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Tuesday - Friday 8:15 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturday 9:15 a.m. - 2:45 p.m., Sunday 11:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
